Well I remember late one night in the frost covered air in the bright moonlight,
she was standing there, drink in her hand ignoring every eye from each and every man
well she, never walked a straight white line and she danced to the drums in her own wild mind.
A whip for a tongue and cold blue eyes that burned through your heart whenever she smiled, whenever she smiled and that's Violet.
Winter blew cold but moved through fast, then Summer gave Violet an hourglass.
The town stood still like time wasn't real, it seemed to move backwards that's how it'd feel.
The sound of her voice would bring you to tears, but love went silent and so went the years.
I never thought Summer would last so long, she wouldn't leave Violet there all alone, but she was always alone and that's Violet.
Well mama always said she's daddy's little girl, she'll walk into your life then leave with a twirl, "maybe it's all just part of God's plan if I drink like a woman and cuss like a man"
Hey! Hey! Hey I'm walkin away, said Violet.
Well Violet awoke in the middle of the night with a restlessness that she could not fight, said "maybe its best if I leave for a while", then broke mama's heart with that little smile, with that little smile oh Violet.
Well daddy always said she's gotta love free but I never sleep a wink, between you and me, "maybe it's all just part of God's plan if I'm in love with a woman who cuts like a man!"
